Rabiya Mateo Opens Up About Finding Closure After Meeting Her Dad
RABIYA MATEO – Kapuso star Rabiya Mateo recently reconnected with her estranged father during a trip to the United States, finally finding the closure she had long been searching for.
Rabiya Mateo, actress and beauty queen, has finally found the closure she long sought after reconnecting with her estranged father during a recent trip to the United States. Though the reunion did not unfold the way she had hoped, Mateo shared that it gave her the peace she needed.
In a heartfelt interview on “24 Oras” aired Thursday, April 24, Mateo revealed that her two-month vacation in the US was largely motivated by her desire to meet her Indian father, who had left her and her mother when she was just five years old. For years, the former Miss Universe Philippines titleholder had been open about her hopes of reconnecting with him.

“Matagal ko na talagang plano, matagal ko nang hinihingi sa GMA ‘yung bakasyon na ‘to because I wanted to be connected with my dad. And nangyari naman siya pero hindi lang sa resultang ine-expect ko or gusto ko,” she said, admitting that the experience came with its share of disappointment.
“But it’s the closure that I needed,” Mateo added, emphasizing that meeting her father, regardless of the outcome, helped her move forward.
According to the report, despite the less-than-ideal encounter, Mateo remains open to building a relationship with her father and her newfound half-siblings. “At least I was able to know na may kapatid ako sa kaniya, may dalawa akong kapatid and may totoong tatay ako. And I’m happy that he’s okay. ‘Yun ‘yung importante do’n,” she shared.

Reports surfaced last March claiming that Mateo’s father, a doctor, allegedly dismissed her during a phone call, expressing indifference toward her. Mateo has chosen not to directly address these allegations, focusing instead on the positive aspects of their reconnection.
Ultimately, Rabiya Mateo’s story is one of courage and acceptance—acknowledging that closure does not always come in the form of perfect reunions, but sometimes in simply finding peace with what is.
