In the mid of February this year, Pope Francis was admitted to the Gemelli hospital where he stayed for more than three (3) weeks. He experienced breathing difficulties and was diagnosed with bronchitis that developed double pneumonia.

The Pope had a surgery that got a part of his lungs removed when he was younger. It made his recovery in his recent health ordeal harder. There were instances when his condition was stable but his doctors maintained that the Roman Pontiff is not out of danger.

Even the Pope previously believed that he might not be able to make it during that time. Reportedly, the Vatican has started the preparations for the funeral of the Roman Catholic Church leader. Countless prayers for the recovery of the Pope kept outpouring.

During his hospitalization, there were instances when Pope Francis was placed under non-invasive medical ventilation following respiratory attacks. Amid his hospital confinement, the Pope kept on doing some works. He also used to visit an adjacent chapel to spend time in prayer.

Pope Francis was discharged from the hospital and was even able to give a short message to the people on Easter Sunday. Thus, countless people were surprised by his passing as he was seen to be recovering. It sparked doubts on Pope Francis cause of death amid the grief.

Recently, the Death Certificate of the Roman Pontiff was released. Based on a report on GMA News, Pope Francis cause of death are stroke and irreversible heart failure. He reportedly fell into coma before he died.

According to Vatican doctor Andrea Arcangeli, the Pope has also suffered from Previous episode of acute respiratory failure in the context of bilateral multimicrobial pneumonia, Multiple bronchiectasis, high blood pressure and diabetes.

Based on the report, the spokesman of Vatican said that the coffin of the Pope might be transferred to St. Peter’s Basilica as early as Wednesday morning so the faithful can pay their last respects to the Roman Catholic Church leader. With regards to the date of the funeral, no date has been given yet.
