Statement of Malacañang for OFWs amid the Election Voting Period Abroad
Malacañang called on the overseas Filipino worker (OFW) voters to vote right and to vote from the heart not just listen to the hearsay.
The 2025 Midterm polls is just a few weeks from now and most local and national candidates are busy campaigning to win more votes for the upcoming elections. The election day in the Philippines is set on May 12, the second Monday of May, as the law mandates a synchronized election day in the country. For the overseas voting, it has already started last Sunday, April 13.

Previously, several weeks ahead of the upcoming 2025 Midterm Elections, Pres. Bongbong Marcos warned the voters about fake news. He stressed that the election season comes with it. The President also told the Filipinos to avoid from voting “all talk” candidates.

According to Pres. Bongbong Marcos who endorses the Alyansa Para Sa Pagbabago senatorial slate, the Filipinos should vote for the “all work” candidates who really know their job. He stressed that senatorial bets of the grand alliance is his “dream team”. However, Pres. Bongbong Marcos also recently changed the chant of the Alyansa after Senator Imee Marcos left the senatorial slate following Duterte’s arrest.
Recently, Malacañang spoke the message of the Palace for the overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) after the online voting period lines have been opened. It is going to be a month-long voting period set for Pinoys who are currently out of the country.

Malacañang reminded the Filipinos abroad of their right and their responsibility to vote. Based on a report on Manila Bulletin, Palace Press Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro advised the Filipinos to vote properly.
“Gampanan niyo po ang inyong tungkulin bilang isang Pilipino. Bumoto po kayo nang nararapat,” she said.
Based on the report, Castro further said to vote from the heart and not from hearsays or from getting an amount of money from someone. The Malacañang Press Officer told the OFW voters to be guided by sincerity and patriotism when casting their votes.
“Bumoto po mula sa puso. Huwag pong bumoto dahil lamang sa bulong o dahil kayo’y nabayaran. Iboto niyo po ang mga taong nararapat. Yung maaasahan po natin— mga leader na hindi ibebenta ang bansa kahit sa anumang paraan at mga leader na makabayan,” the Malacañang Press Officer said.
Reportedly, Atty. Claire Castro also expressed the optimism of the Palace on the first online absentee voting. According to her, the Palace hopes that it will make the voting process faster for the OFWs. Previously, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) confirmed that all 77 online voting channels in different countries are open.
The online voting can be accessed 24 hours. It can be done via computers, smartphones, and tablets.
