Pres. Bongbong Marcos Gives Message for New PNP Generals

BONGBONG MARCOS – The Philippine President spoke at the oath-taking ceremony of 39 Star-Ranked Officers of the Philippine National Police.

Amid the political turmoil in the Philippine government now caused by the arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte which earned the government and some members of the Marcos cabinet criticisms, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) chief Nicolas Torre was among those promoted to police major general.

Torre was the lead implementer in the arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte last March 11. The former President was arrested by the PNP upon his arrival from Hong Kong, detained at Villamor Air Base for several hours, and flown to The Hague, Netherlands via Dubai on the same day.

Pres. Bongbong Marcos who earned countless criticisms following Duterte’s arrest recently graced the oath-taking ceremony of 39 Star-Ranked Officers of the PNP with his presence. Based on a report on Inquirer, the Chief Executive also gave a speech at the event that gathered the newly-promoted PNP officials.

Pres. Bongbong Marcos called on the new PNP generals to let their actions “always be rooted in what is right” and in what is legal. He also reminded them to perform their duties with utmost integrity, dedication, and accountability.

Marcos told the newly-promoted PNP Generals that the mantle they wear carry with it the expectation that they will embody the values in every action and decision in their every mission.

“It is thus incumbent upon you to lead by example. You have been entrusted with the daunting but noble responsibility of leadership—to guide, to discipline, [and] to inspire the men and women under your command,” the President said.

Based on the report, Pres. Bongbong Marcos also ordered all the PNP generals to make sure that all personnel of the national security are performing their duties with competence. He expressed the appreciation of the country in their hard work.

“Rest assured the whole nation and I acknowledge and commend all the hard work that you do,” Marcos said.

Previously, Pres. Bongbong Marcos defended the government over the arrest of former Pres. Duterte. He stressed that the authorities acted on the arrest due to the government’s commitment with the PNP. The cabinet officials are set to attend the 3rd Senate hearing led by Sen. Imee Marcos over Duterte’s arrest.
