Old Thinking Pinoy Post Trends Online
THINKING PINOY – Social media personality RJ Nieto became a trending topic on X after netizens revisited an old post of his from October 21, 2021.
The resurfaced screenshot showed Nieto expressing support for then-presidential candidate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., who was running alongside Vice President Sara Duterte under the “UniTeam” banner.
In the post, Nieto wrote, “If Inday doesn’t run, I may go BBM, if only to protect PRRD from ICC, who’s after him for risking his life for six years to dismantle PH Narcopolitics. The old man deserves time to rest.” He added, “Let’s face the reality that IF Leni wins, PRRD will go on a field trip to The Hague.”
The post quickly gained attention, with netizens pointing out the irony of Nieto’s past statements, especially given recent political developments. Lawyer and social media personality Atty. Jesus Falcis reacted, saying, “Thinking Pinoy’s post, and comment about Leni Robredo, did not age well,” followed by, “Let’s face the reality nabudol ka.”
Other netizens also weighed in. One user commented, “My takeaway from this is that Madam Leni came out clean and free from blame. She gets to live a peaceful life, while those who voted for PBBM brought this upon themselves. Game of Thrones who? Nag overthink kasi si thinking pinoy.”
Another criticized Nieto’s reasoning, stating, “Dati pa lang questionable na yung thinking capacity ng tao na yan eh. People who name themselves as “Thinking Pinoy” are not really “thinking.” If you have to outright describe yourself as an “intellectual” then you’re not really one “.”
Some, however, stood by their stance, with one user saying, “Pero nangyari na ang nangyari, still, I will not vote for Leni pa rin hahaha.” Others took a more sarcastic approach, quipping, “Thinking Pinoy pero hindi nag-think?”
As of now, Nieto has not responded or issued a statement regarding the resurfaced post.
