Sen. Bato dela Rosa Speaks on ICC Moves over Duterte Admin’s War on Drugs
BATO DELA ROSA – The Senator expressed his readiness to join former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte at The Hague in case all legal options fail.
The arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte is something that many people did not see coming — also something that his supporters cry should have not happen. On the other side, the human rights advocates find it a positive development in the pursuit of justice for the alleged victims of his administration’s war on drugs.

According to the Presidential Communications Office, the Interpol Manila got a copy of the warrant of arrest against Duterte from the International Criminal Court or ICC. Malacañang stressed that the government is “obliged to follow” and attend to the request of the Interpol.

On the claims that the President has the power to stop the arrest of the former Chief Executive, Malacañang stressed that what happened was the prerogative of the government over the arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro also emphasized that there are accusations against the former President.
According to Castro, the move of the government is to ensure justice whether to the accused or to the victims. Pres. Bongbong Marcos expressed that there was a legal process in the arrest of former Pres. Duterte.

During the heightened implementation of the war on drugs, the Duterte administration worked closely with the Philippine National Police. The PNP was then led by former PNP chief and now Sen. Bato dela Rosa.

Previously, Sen. Bato dela Rosa stressed that the drug war cannot be fought without force. In December, he expressed that he would seek the relief of the Supreme Court in case the International Criminal Court which launched an investigation over the drug war will release an arrest warrant against him and Duterte.
Former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte has arrived at The Hague. Through a post on Facebook, Sen. Bato dela Rosa expressed his readiness to join the former President at The Hague if all legal remedies fail.
“If all legal remedies are exhausted and still justice is to no avail, then I don’t want my family to suffer from cops looking for a heartbeat… I am ready to join the old man hoping that they would allow me to take care of him,” Sen. Bato dela Rosa stated.

Previously, prior to his landing at The Hague, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte gave a message for Filipinos telling them not to worry about him.
