Update on Condition of Pope Francis amid his Hospitalization

POPE FRANCIS – The Holy See Press Office released an update regarding the clinical condition of the Roman Pontiff now.

The Pope is confined in Gemelli Hospital in Rome, Italy for almost three (3) weeks now. He was admitted to the hospital due to respiratory issues. His bronchitis has developed a double pneumonia and he continues to receive treatment at the hospital.

Undeniably, the Roman Pontiff’s current hospitalization is one of the longest that he had and the toughest to overcome. Pope Francis even believed that his death may be drawing near telling two (2) people close to him that he might “not make it this time”.

Throughout his hospitalization, there were instances when the Pope had some health crises and there were also days when slight improvements were noted. On the 7th day of his hospitalization, he had a respiratory attack that left him in a critical state.

Then, his clinical condition even required for a transfusion of two (2) counts of blood. Following it, the Pope was under a critical condition for several days.

Meanwhile, the clinical condition of Pope Francis has improved until last March 3 when two (2) new episodes of breathing crises took place. The doctors had to perform two bronchoscopies to remove large secretions from the Pope.

The Sovereign Pontiff was placed under a non-invasive medical ventilation again to help his breathing. It was previously removed amid a bettering clinical condition.

Recently, the Holy See Press Office released an update about the clinical condition of Pope Francis who is on his almost third week of hospital confinement now. Based on a post of Vatican News, the clinical condition of the Supreme Pontiff remained “stable” and he has returned to some work activities.

The Holy See Press Office said in a statement that the Pope had no new episodes of breathing crisis and his non-invasive medical ventilation was removed on the day. It will be resumed in the night.

The Holy Father increased his respiratory and active motor physiotherapy. He spent the day in his armchair,” the statement reads.

Based on the post, the clinical condition of Pope Francis remains “guarded”. He participated in the rite of the blessing of the Sacred ashes in a private apartment located in the 10th floor. He also received the Eucharist and engaged in some work activities afterwards.

Previously, two (2) officials of Vatican claimed that Pope Francis had a conflict with the cardinals prior to his hospitalization.
