Condition of Pope Francis in Hospital Shows More Improvement

POPE FRANCIS – The Roman Pontiff had a conflict with some of the cardinals over the Vatican finances prior to his hospitalization.

Countless members and devotees of the Roman Catholic church are monitoring updates about the condition of the Pope. He remains admitted in Gemelli hospital in Rome, Italy for 14 days now since February 14, 2025 when he was confined due to chest pain and breathing difficulties.

The Roman Pontiff had bronchitis which developed into double pneumonia. Reportedly, the Pope had a part of his lungs removed when he was young and it is affecting his recovery from his current health condition. Meanwhile, there were several instances when improvements were noted regarding the clinical condition of the Roman Catholic church’s chief.

Previously, amid the belief of Pope Francis that his death may be near, his clinical condition improved. On the 7th day of his hospitalization in Gemelli hospital, his fever was gone and there were other signs of slight improvement.

However, then, the doctors were honest that the Pope is still not out of danger. The condition of the Roman Pontiff showed a complex picture. A few days after it, the Pope had a respiratory attack left him in a critical condition. Meanwhile, for several days now, slight improvements on the clinical condition of the Pope continuously take place.

As per the latest update from Vatican, the clinical condition of Pope Francis continued to show more improvement but he remains “guarded”. However, the doctors don’t think that the Sovereign Pontiff is already out of danger.

Based on a report on Reuters, three (3) days prior to his hospitalization, Pope Francis had a conflict with some of the cardinals over the finances of Vatican. The Roman Pontiff wants the creation of a new commission to invite donations to Vatican amid the wide gap in the finances.

Based on the report, speaking to Reuters, two (2) officials claimed that Vatican department chiefs including senior cardinals have expressed opposition on the desire of the Pope to create a new commission. It happened during a closed-door meeting.

On Wednesday, while Pope Francis is on his 13th day of hospital stay, the Vatican announced the new “Commission on Donations for the Holy See”.

Amid the outpour of prayers globally for the recovery of the Roman Pontiff, Philippine President Bongbong Marcos is one of those who released a statement over Pope Francis.
