Brod Pete Admits Jealousy Over Alex Calleja’s Netflix Success

BROD PETE – Veteran comedian and writer Brod Pete candidly shared his thoughts on Alex Calleja’s success, humorously admitting, “naiinggit ako,” while praising the comedian’s Netflix special.

Brod Pete recently opened up about his feelings regarding fellow comedian Alex Calleja’s rise to success, particularly with his Netflix comedy special, TAMANG PANAHON, which reached the top spot on the streaming platform.

In an interview, Brod Pete, also known as Isko, was asked how he felt about Calleja’s major achievement. With his signature wit, he candidly admitted, “Ako, wala akong Netflix pero mas matagal ako kay Alex. Wala akong Netflix, siya meron. Naiinggit ako.”

Despite his humorous way of expressing it, Brod Pete clarified that his admiration for Calleja’s work is genuine. He emphasized his love for comedy and acknowledged that Calleja’s special was truly entertaining. “Gusto ko comedy. Gusto ko nakakatawa. Eh, nakakatawa ‘yung kay Alex. Naiinggit ako,” he added.

He also mentioned that if given the chance, he would love to have his own Netflix special—not to compete with Calleja but to contribute to the continuous growth of the comedy scene. “Kung may pagkakataon, gagawa ako ng Netflix hindi para kalabanin siya or… para ituloy-tuloy ‘yung comdedy scene.”

Aside from discussing Calleja’s success, Brod also touched on the recent controversy involving Alex Calleja and comedian Chito Francisco over the carwash joke. He expressed his sadness over the issue, stating that comedians are merely vessels for jokes and that humor is meant to be shared.

Brod Pete, whose real name is Herman “Isko” Salvador, is a well-respected figure in Philippine comedy. He gained fame through his work on Bubble Gang and became known for his witty takes on serious topics, often playing with words in a humorous way.
