This, as the Department of Health gave an update on the total number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines as of 4:00 p.m. today, September 4, 2020.
According to its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #174 dated September 4, 2020, the Department of Health reported 3,714 newly-reported COVID-19 cases, which brought the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease to 232,072.
In addition, the Department of Health stated that the newly-confirmed cases on Friday were reported based on the total tests done by 93 out of 113 current operational laboratories. Moreover, 3,259 out of 3,714 newly-reported cases occurred within the recent 14 days — from August 22 to September 4.

In addition, the Department of Health reported 67,786 total active cases as stated in its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #174 dated September 4, 2020.
Moreover, the Department of Health identified the top five areas with the highest number of new coronavirus cases as of September 4 only: Metro Manila with 1,797 new cases, Negros Occidental with 390 new cases, Batangas with 248 new cases, Laguna with 247 new cases, and Cavite with 150 new cases.
Aside from the number of confirmed cases, the Department of Health had recorded 1,088 newly-reported recoveries and 49 newly-reported fatalities. This brought the total number of recoveries to 160,549 and total coronavirus deaths to 3,737.
