This, as the Department of Health gave an update on the total number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines as of today.
According to its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #173 dated September 3, 2020, the Department of Health reported 1,987 newly-reported COVID-19 cases, which brought the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease to 228,403.
In addition, the Department of Health stated that the newly-confirmed cases on Thursday were reported based on the total tests done by 91 out of 113 current operational laboratories. Moreover, 1,627 out of 1,987 newly-reported cases occurred within the recent 14 days — from August 21 to September 3.

In addition, the Department of Health reported 65,240 total active cases as stated in its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #173 dated September 3, 2020.
Moreover, the Department of Health identified the top five areas with the highest number of new coronavirus cases as of September 3 only: Metro Manila with 818 new cases, Cavite with 153 new cases, Laguna with 125 new cases, Negros Occidental with 122 new cases, and Rizal with 78 new cases.
Aside from the number of confirmed cases, the Department of Health had recorded 880 newly-reported recoveries and 65 newly-reported fatalities. This brought the total number of recoveries to 159,475 and total coronavirus deaths to 3,688.
