BEA ALONZO – Actress Bea Alonzo shares her heartfelt insights, revealing the profound reasons behind her belief in the power of waiting and trusting the right timing in life.
Bea Alonzo recently concluded her groundbreaking role in GMA 7’s murder-mystery series Widows’ War. In this primetime drama, Bea took on the complex character of Sam Castillo-Palacios, a woman determined to uncover the truth behind her father’s murder. The series marked a significant departure from Bea’s traditional romantic lead roles, showcasing her versatility as an actress.
During an interview at GMA Regional TV’s Sinulog activities in Cebu City, Bea shared her reflections on the challenges and lessons of playing Sam—a character without a romantic storyline. “When I do a character, hindi ka naman laging nag-a-agree dun, but you always have to make it work,” she said. Bea emphasized the importance of understanding and believing in her character’s motivations to deliver a compelling performance.
Bea Alonzo admitted that portraying Sam was an enlightening experience. The character’s relentless pursuit of truth often led to unintended consequences, leaving Bea with personal insights. “What I realized from doing this series is that sometimes, it’s better to focus on being a good person than being right,” she shared.
Sam’s obsession with uncovering the truth about her father’s death brought misfortune and collateral damage. Bea reflected, “There’s nothing wrong with seeking the truth, but sometimes, it’s better to trust the universe or God to reveal it at the right time.” This profound takeaway resonated with Bea, both professionally and personally.
Widows’ War also marked Bea’s first foray into the murder-mystery genre, a deliberate shift in her career. “It was a conscious decision to step away from romantic roles,” she noted. Joining an ensemble cast that included Carla Abellana, Timmy Cruz, and Jean Garcia, Bea embraced the challenges of the genre, calling it a “good decision” that expanded her horizons as an actress.
With Widows’ War, Bea Alonzo has proven her ability to tackle diverse and unconventional roles, setting the stage for a more dynamic and evolving career.
