Lady Passenger Prefers Traditional Jeepneys Over Modern Versions

Recently, Marou Pahati Sarne, a Facebook user, shared her experience riding a modern jeepney for the first time. The post immediately spread like a wildfire on social media and elicited reactions from the netizens.
Sarne still finds traditional jeepneys more comfortable and practical compared to their modern counterparts.
In her post, she outlined the reasons for her opinion based on her personal experience. She shared that during her first ride on a modern jeepney, it felt cramped as passengers were squeezed in like sardines.
Despite the presence of air conditioning, the cool air was barely noticeable because the doors were constantly open to accommodate more passengers. The setup also allowed vehicle fumes from outside to seep into the cabin, making the ride less pleasant.
Marou also mentioned the struggle of getting off the jeepney due to the overcrowding in the middle aisle. She even found herself stepping on other passengers as she tried to navigate her way out.
At one point, the conductor suggested that passengers just switch positions to make room, leading to a humorous comment about how people were practically bumping faces due to the tight space.
The post garnered reactions from other netizens, with some agreeing with her sentiments and others defending the modern jeepney as a step toward progress. The issue emphasizes the ongoing debate surrounding the phaseout of traditional jeepneys in favor of modernized versions.

“First time kong sumakay sa modern jeep. Mas maayos pa yatang sumakay sa traditional jeepney. Dito, isiniksik ang mga pasahero na parang sardinas, hindi mo maramdaman ang aircon kasi laging nakabukas ang pinto dahil pasakay sila ng pasakay ng pasahero, at pumapasok din ang usok ng mga sasakyan sa labas dahil nga nakabukas yung pinto. At nang bababa na ako, halos di ako makadaan dahil sobra talagang siksikan sa gitna. Naaapakan ko na yung mga nakatayo. Sabi nung konduktor, palitan na lang ng puwesto. Sabi nung isa: nagkakapalitan na nga kami ng mukha.”
