BINI MALOI – P-pop star Maloi Ricalde is eagerly looking toward a bright future in acting, fueled by her passion and ambition to showcase her talents beyond music.

In a recent interview, BINI member Maloi shared her aspirations and emotions regarding her journey as a performer. When asked if she wants to be an actor, she enthusiastically responded, “Yes!”

Her passion for acting has been a part of her life for as long as she can remember. “I’ve always wanted to act po, as in! Like ‘pag nanonood ako ng mga teleserye or K-drama, I feel like gusto ko rin gawin yun! Parang kaya ko ring gawin yun! I’m really thankful talaga to Maki dahil kinast niya ako sa music video niya (‘Dilaw’)” she said, expressing her gratitude to fellow artist Maki for casting her in the music video for “Dilaw,” where she portrayed a student comforting a bullied classmate.

Maloi acknowledged her natural inclination towards overacting, humorously admitting, “Lagi akong OA (over-acting).” However, she embraced the opportunity to showcase her more subtle acting side in the video, stating, “I tried my best.” Despite her busy schedule with BINI, she is eager to reveal other talents beyond singing and performing, aspiring to explore acting further.

Her acting inspirations include Alessandra de Rossi, Bela Padilla, and JC Santos, but her ultimate idol is the legendary Maricel Soriano. “Gusto kong masampal ni Miss Maricel. Okay lang, it’s an honor na masampal ni Miss Maricel,” she exclaimed, reflecting her admiration for the veteran actress.

At just 22, Maloi has a plethora of goals, including honing her songwriting skills and pursuing studies in Fine Arts or Multimedia Arts. She expressed, “I feel like if I’m not on that path, I’m not being true to myself.” However, her studies may have to wait as BINI’s schedule is already packed until 2025.

Maloi also shared her emotional side, revealing that she inherited her soft-heartedness from her mother. “Sobrang baba ng luha ko,” she admitted. The love and support from her fans deeply touch her, instilling a sense of gratitude.

“I feel so loved. Parang hindi ako makapaniwala na nakakatanggap ako ng ganitong love. I feel so, forever grateful. ‘Yun talaga ang number one – the attitude of gratitude.”

Despite the challenges of fame, including the loss of privacy, Maloi remains grounded. “I can’t deny na sobrang overwhelming niya po. ‘Yun ‘yung time talaga na mag-stand ka para sa sarili mo. You have to speak up. You have to think about ‘yung sarili mo, ‘yung safety, ‘yung safety ng mga tao. If you care about yourself, you care about other people.”

Her humility stems from an attitude of gratitude, shaped by her upbringing. She said, “At eto yung Maloi dati. Actually hindi ako si Maloi sa bahay, si Lucky ako. Kaya tuwing tinatawag ako ng parents ko, tinatawag nila akong Lucky. So this is where I started. So ‘yun po ang reminder sa akin, everytime.”

“Everyday nag-uusap kami ng parents. As much as I want to, gusto ko talagang nagvi-videocall kami. So everyday, I am reminded.”
