Typhoon Kristine Brings Flood Affecting Shopping Mall in Naga City & Countless Houses
SHOPPING MALL IN NAGA – The flood in Naga City due to Tropical Storm Kristine has hit not only residential properties but as well as buildings.
Several areas in the Philippines most especially in Luzon are currently experiencing heavy rains and strong winds. It is due to Tropical Storm Kristine which is currently within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
Unfortunately, many areas in Camarines Sur are currently in deep flooding after canals overflowed and low-lying areas were turned into rivers. Naga City is one of those that were severaly hit by the flooding caused by the storm.
In fact, former Vice President Leni Robredo already called for help as pump boats are needed to rescue several residents of Naga who are in the roofs of their houses for hours already. The flooding has reached roof-level in several areas in the city.
According to the former Vice President and the wife of the late former Naga Mayor Jesse Robredo, several rescue trucks of the city were stalled due to the flood. The local government unit of Naga also appealed for help as vehicles that can pass through flooding that is within three (3) to six (6) feet deep are needed.
Thousands of residents in Naga were forced to evacuate due to deep flooding. Many of them went to the shopping mall in Naga City which served as an evacuation area. However, the floodwater also got into the ground floor of the building.
Based on a post of Inquirer, the evacuees inside a shopping mall in Naga City had to move to the second floor of the building after the flood entered the ground floor of the mall. Countless people were also in the mall to charge their mobile phones and gadgets amid the onslaught of the tropical storm.
Aside from the shopping mall, the Camella Naga Subdivision was also severely hit by flood causing damages on several cars of the homeowners. There are also missing vehicles.
