Lady Consumer Expresses Dismay After Receiving P8.6 Million Electric Bill

A lady consumer from Catanduanes expressed her frustration online about receiving a staggering electric bill of P8.6 million.

Recently, Gemmalyn Israel, a Facebook user, expressed her disbelief and disappointment when she saw the enormous charge from the First Catanduanes Electric Cooperative, INC (FECILCO) amounting to P8.6 million. Her post quickly gained attention and sparked reactions from netizens.

In her post, Gemmalyn joked that the bill seemed to cover the entire island’s electricity usage. The outrageous amount left her feeling stressed and confused, especially since she and her family had been making efforts to reduce their consumption by unplugging appliances and using solar power.

“Anu naman ito First Catanduanes Electric Cooperative, INC. 8MILLION?? Parang bayarin ito nang buong ISLA ah,” Israel said.

Israel mentioned how they usually paid around P44,000 for their monthly electric bill, but this time it unexpectedly soared to millions. The woman explained that she had previous unpleasant experiences with FECILCO’s billing errors, which is why she chose to share her frustration online.

The female consumer recalled a past incident where she had been overcharged nearly P200,000 due to a mistake by their manpower, which she had to pay in installments despite it being the company’s fault.

After the post went viral, FECILCO corrected the error, but the updated bill still showed an increase, now totaling P51,000. The lady and her family were confused as they had already reduced their power consumption, expecting the bill to go down, not up.
