Political Party of Leni Robredo Makes Announcement on Upcoming Poll
LENI ROBREDO – The Liberal Party announced that the former Vice President will run for mayor in Naga City in the 2025 Midterm Election.
The result of the 2022 Elections was a huge loss for the Liberal Party. The Leni-Kiko tandem did not secure the presidential and the vice presidential posts and most of the senatorial slate of the LP also did not make it. Meanwhile, despite it, the political party is gearing up for the upcoming 2025 Midterm Election.
Former Vice Pres. Leni Robredo visibly had more time for her daughters and to travel abroad after her stint as the second highest-official in the Philippine government. She and her husband, the late former Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo, have three (3) daughters — Aika, Tricia, and Jillian.
Tricia, the doctor daugher of Leni and Jesse, was accepted in Harvard Medical School for her Master’s a few months after the 2022 Elections. Although being away from a post in the government gives her much time for her daughters and to be free from stress, visibly, a huge part of the heart of the former Vice President calls for public service. She is set for another electoral race.
Based on a report on GMA News Balitambayan, the Liberal Party announced that former Vice Pres. Leni Robredo will run for mayor in Naga City in 2025. Her late husband, former interior secretary Jesse Robredo, is a former Naga City Mayor.
Jesse has served Naga for several years as a simple mayor who is known to be wearing only a pair of slippers in several instances. During the term of the late former president Noynoy Aquino, he was appointed by PNoy as the secretary of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
However, in 2012, Jesse Robredo died from a plane crash. The chopper that he was aboard in on his way home to Naga to watch the event of his daughter crashed and fell in Masbate Bay.
Based on the report, it was former Quezon Representative Erin Tañada who announced at the national assembly of the Liberal Party in San Juan that former Vice Pres. Leni Robredo will run for Naga City Mayor in 2025. It put an end to the speculations that the former VP may be seeking a senatorial position in next year’s election.
Recently, former Vice Pres. Leni Robredo met with her successor, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. The spokesperson of the former VP said that Duterte visited Robredo at her house in Naga.
