Melai Cantiveros Talks About New Show ‘Kuan-0n-One’

MELAI CANTIVEROS – Kapamilya actress and tv host Melai Cantiveros said her new show ‘Kuan-On-One will highlight the Bisaya culture.

Melai Cantiveros, whose full name is Melisa “Melai” Cantiveros-Francisco, is a Filipino actress, comedian, host, and television personality. She first gained popularity as the grand winner of the reality show “Pinoy Big Brother: Double Up” in 2009.

Born on April 6, 1988, in General Santos City, Philippines, Melai has since become a well-known figure in the Philippine entertainment industry. She has appeared in various television series and movies, often in comedic roles. Some of her notable TV shows include “Precious Hearts Romances Presents: Impostor” and “We Will Survive.”

Melai Cantiveros is also known for her hosting skills. She has been a co-host on several TV shows, including the morning talk show “Magandang Buhay” and the talent show “Your Face Sounds Familiar.”

The 36-year-old celebrity mom is set to showcase Bisaya culture with her new talk show “Kuan-On-One,” launching on July 2. The first season will feature notable guests like Kim Chiu, Sheryn Regis, Maymay Entrata, Christian Bables, Jason Dy, and BINI members Aiah and Colet, among others.

At a press conference on Tuesday, Melai Cantiveros expressed her pride in highlighting the many Filipino entertainers who are proud to be Bisaya.

“Maraming mga Bisaya na grateful kasi kaming mga Bisaya, hindi maiwasan na mag-self pity kasi malayo kami sa central. Pero ngayon nung may ganito na show parang ‘let our voice be heard’ ganoon ang mga Bisaya, uy,” she added.

Cantiveros also aims to use the talk show to bridge regional divides within the country.

“Sobrang importante lalo na sa amin para mawala na ‘yung mga separation (between) mga Bisaya, mga Tagalog, para in one na tayo,” the comedianne said.

“Kasi marami na ring mga Bisaya, may mga radio stations na nga dito na Bisaya dito sa Manila eh … very important na maging isa tao at talagang nagmamahalan tayo,” she added.

Cantiveros hopes to reach a wide audience and make them feel at home, as comfortable as she is speaking in her own language.

“Tapos na-appreciate nila ang ‘Kuan-On-One’ show at si Direk Lauren (Dyogi), sobrang na-appreciate nila ang ABS-CBN (dahil) nag-effort talaga gumawa ng show para sa mga (taga-)Visayas at Mindanao para ma-inspire sila. Lalo na ‘yung mga OFWs, sila talaga ang pinaka-happy talaga, para silang nakauwi sa Pilipinas para hindi na sila ma-sepanx sa kanilang family,” she said.

Cantiveros also mentioned some dream guests she would like to have on the show, including Manny Pacquiao, Jinkee Pacquiao, Annabelle Rama, Ellen Adarna, and others.

“Kuan-On-One” will begin airing episodes on July 2 on the ABS-CBN Entertainment YouTube channel and iWantTFC.
