Ricardo Cepeda Brother Set Up GoFundMe Campaign To Help In His Legal Struggle
RICARDO CEPEDA – Robert Go launched a GoFundMe campaign to address the legal costs associated with his fraternal twin, actor Ricardo Cepeda, who is presently in custody following charges related to syndicated estafa.
Actor Ricardo Cepeda’s sibling, Robert Go, has reached out to the online community for financial support through the GoFundMe platform. They aim to collect USD 30,000 or P1,680,825, with current donations totaling USD 6,813 or PHP 381,715.36.
Ricardo Cepeda was arrested on October 7, 2023, in Caloocan City, facing syndicated estafa charges. During this period, the actor endorsed a sales company promoting an investment scheme that promised substantial profits in a short time. However, when the company’s checks bounced, investors filed estafa charges against those they believed were involved, including Ricardo.
Robert Go insists on the GoFundMe page that his brother is “wrongfully accused” and stresses Ricardo’s lack of involvement in the mentioned investment scheme. He asserts that Ricardo’s role as an endorser, limited to promoting select products, unfairly positioned him as the face associated with the company’s wrongdoing. Despite lacking any reason to hide, authorities detained him, adding an undeserved layer of difficulty to his situation.
Robert also emphasizes the emotional toll and “significant financial strain” inflicted on their family due to Ricardo’s imprisonment. He mentions that any savings from the actor’s projects have been depleted over time due to unemployment and lack of income.
“As he remains in custody in the Philippines until now, with no definite sign that he will be given his day in court, the mounting legal fees further exacerbate his financial challenges and drive him deeper into debt,” adds Robert.
Robert Go details how Ricardo’s wife, Marina Benipayo, is striving to keep the family together despite facing challenges. He expresses hope for Ricardo’s allegations to be cleared and wishes for his brother’s freedom. Robert conveys gratitude for any form of support, be it financial or through kind words and sharing, to help spread awareness.
“Your support, whether financial or through kind words and sharing, will help us spread the word,” says Ricardo’s brother.
