Claudine Barretto on Vilma Santos: “Ganon kataas ang respeto ko sa kanya na kapag sinabi niya na ‘Don’t do this,’ hindi ko gagawin talaga.”
CLAUDINE BARRETTO – The Optimum Star recently shared how Star for All Seasons Vilma Santos saved her life after Rico Yan’s death.
The “Lovers/Liars” actress appeared on Luis Manzano’s latest “Luis Listens” episode on his YouTube channel where she looked back on the lowest moment of her life and how Vilma provided her comfort at that time.
Luis Manzano is the son of Vilma Santos with Edu Manzano.
Claudine shared that a phone call from the veteran actress saved her when she attempted to end her life after her love team partner and real-life boyfriend Rico Yan died in March 2002.
“Those were the times that I really wanted to give up. When you’re really down and depressed, you can’t really think straight and your mom (Santos) is parang angel talking to me,” she said, adding that she wanted to end everything as she was writing a goodbye note at that time.
According to the actress, she considered the phone call from Vilma as God’s way of stopping her from ending her life at that time. She shared that Vilma is someone she can’t say no to, so she complied when the veteran actress told her to “not do anything”.
The Optimum Star also recalled the second time the Star for All Seasons comforted her as she hit rock bottom anew.
She shared that she’s having a nervous breakdown and she wasn’t thinking about doing anything bad at that time. According to her, the veteran actress came to her house and tucked her in like a mother.
