Authorities Explain What Will Happen To Filipinos from China Amid the Coronavirus Outbreak
CORONAVIRUS – The authorities explained what will happen to Filipinos who will come home from China amid the outbreak of the disease.
While a lot of Filipinos in the Philippines are worrying about their safety amid the novel coronavirus outbreak reaching other countries now, there are also several Pinoys who worry about their loved ones who are in China.
There are several overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in China and there are also those who just came there for a vacation. However, they cannot freely leave the country as Wuhan City is under a mandatory lock-down now.
The lock-down is a step to curb the spread of the nCoV. It became rampant in China infecting at least two (2) thousand people. Sadly, more than a hundred people lost their lives to the contagious disease.
Earlier, the Philippine government has expressed willingness to help the Filipinos who wanted to go home from China amid the coronavirus outbreak. They will be travelled by air in case.
More than thirty (30) Filipinos in China wanted to go home to the Philippines amid the outbreak of coronavirus abroad. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, for those who wanted to go home, they will be quarantined for two (2) weeks.
Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Francisco Duque expressed that those who wanted to go home will be put in a health facility for monitoring. According to him, the members of the inter-agency meeting have already agreed to ensure that OFWs in China get the support they need.
Also, based on the report, Beijing assured their preparedness to assist their citizens. Department of Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Brigido Dulay expressed that everything done concerning the OFWs in China must be well-coordinated with the Chinese authorities.
As of this writing, there are still no other information regarding the repatriation of the Filipinos in China who wanted to go home to the Philippines. More updates may be posted soon.
