Here’s the reaction of James Reid after being replaced by Matteo Guidicelli in “Penduko”
JAMES REID – The actor-singer has finally given his reaction after being replaced by Matteo Guidicelli in the MMFF 2023 entry “Penduko.”
It was just recently that the trailers of the movies participating in the 2023 Metro Manila Film Festival were released. Among the much-awaited productions is Penduko, starring Matteo Guidicelli in the titular role.
Initially, James Reid was slated to lead in Viva Film’s adaptation of the comic book. However, due to demanding action sequences, he officially withdrew in June 2019, citing a spinal injury.
During the H&M and Rabanne collaboration launch on November 6, 2023, in Makati City, James reflected, “I had injuries in my back and in my shoulder. So I wasn’t able to do any physical activity for a year. So I had to back out a little bit. The training was very, very intense.”
While James had not yet seen the trailer before the interview, he praised Matteo for his ability to endure the strenuous physical training required for the role. He remarked, “I’m sure that he had to undergo very, very rigorous physical training for the role.”
Regarding his own acting endeavors, James was asked by PEP if he is currently involved in a new film project. The 30-year-old actor hinted, saying, “Maybe!” Currently, James is concentrating on his music and fashion pursuits.
Meanwhile, “Penduko”, led by Matteo Guidicelli tells the story of a 20-year-old who was raised in the U.S. He embarks on a journey to the Philippines after his father’s death to search for his mother, only to discover a curse and evil forces destroying the town. The movie also stars Kylie Verzosa, Mark Anthony Fernandez, and Albert Martinez. It is directed by Jason Paul Laxamana.
