Sunshine Dizon on Anti-Terror Law
Sunshine Dizon engaged in a debate with the netizens over the controversial Anti-Terrorism Law or Anti-Terror Act of 2020.
Recently, the 37-year-old actress went to social media wherein she shared her opinion about the Anti-Terror Law.
Sunshine Dizon divulges her reaction about the law hours before President Rodrigo Duterte delivers the 5th State of the Nation Address (SONA).
On the issue of the Anti-Terror Act of 2020, those who are opposing the law fear it will violate press freedom.
According to the law itself, acts through “speeches, writings, proclamations, emblems, banners, and other representations” implying terrorism is a “criminal offense.”
“Warrantless arrest” will also be imposed on any identified terrorist, with a penalty of twelve years imprisonment.
Following her statement on social media, Sunshine Dizon engaged in an online debate with the netizens.
But Sunshine thinks the Anti-Terrorism Law should not be enforced as of press time.
She believes that the provision of the law is lacking to ensure who will be branded as a terrorist.
In the later part of the interaction, she was accused by another netizen of being “nagmamarunong” about the Anti-Terror Act of 2020.
