Chino Trinidad: “Wish ko lang sana nagtapos ng maayos”
CHINO TRINIDAD – The former GMA Sports Journalist shared the reasons behind his departure from the Kapuso network, where he had spent 23 years of his career.
Speaking in an interview with Politiko Live, Chino talked about his strong connection with the late broadcaster Mike Enriquez, who played a pivotal role in his journey at GMA Network. Chino expressed deep gratitude to Mike Enriquez, emphasizing the debt of gratitude he owed to him. He recounted how Mike Enriquez had brought him into the GMA fold back in 2000, when he was recruited from DZBB.
“Alam niyo kung gaano kalaki ang utang na loob ko kay Mike Enriquez? Siya lang naman ang nagdala sakin sa GMA in 2000 noong kinuha niya ako sa DZBB and that started my career, give my family life, gave me a platform for the last 23 years,” he said.
However, Chino hinted that his departure from GMA Network had not unfolded as smoothly as he had hoped. He expressed a desire for a more amicable conclusion to his long association with the network. He wished that his departure had been marked by fond memories, rather than any bitterness, so that he could look back on his time with GMA with nothing but positivity. “Wish ko lang sana nagtapos ng maayos,” the journalist said. “Hindi sa paraan na ‘yung pagtatapos ay mapait, maganda sana na you only have fond memories of the network you served and gave you a platform.”
Chino also highlighted an additional challenge he faced during this transition. He revealed that his media accreditation with FIBA, the International Basketball Federation, was revoked after he ceased working with GMA. “Hindi na nga ako binigyan ng accreditation, tinanggal pa ‘yung accreditation ko sa FIBA.. Ang na-miss out ko is ‘yung opportunity para maging mata, bibig ng mga nagmamahal sa basketball,” he stressed.
