Zombie Tugue speaks on the “blackout” joke of Jose Manalo
ZOMBIE TUGUE – The Nigerian content creator and recent addition to the Dabarkads, has addressed the controversy surrounding a joke made by co-host Jose Manalo.
Last week, a video clip from the July 24 episode of E.A.T.’s Sugod Bahay segment circulated on social media. In the said segment, Jose made a joke about Zombie’s skin color. “Ito kapag napanalunan mo sa bingo ‘to, yan ang tinatawag na blackout,” he quipped.
The facial expressions of Paolo Ballesteros and Miles Ocampo, who were present in the TV5 studio, were evident and suggested that they were disturbed by Jose’s comment. Miles even adjusted her hair, and Paolo exclaimed, “Huy!” Allan K also had a surprised reaction, while Joey appeared serious and did not participate in the banter.
Some netizens commented, labeling Jose’s joke as “discrimination” and “racist.” The remark even became a subject of discussion among netizens and was covered by various news outlets.
On August 5, Zombie Tugue addressed the issue through a video on Facebook. Zombie stated that he didn’t see anything wrong with Jose’s joke.
According to the new TV personality, “He was talking to me, right? Tapos sa pakiramdam ko o sa pagrinig ko, I did not feel o hear anything bad o that affected me.” He added: “Pero walang mali diyan. It did not hurt me, ‘no. Walang mali diyan…”
In the later part of his statement, Zombie Tugue told the netizens to mind their own business. “Hindi ko alam kung bakit medyo sensitive po yung iba’t ibang tao sa [buhay ng iba]. Nagiging pakialamera sila. Wag kayong magiging pakialamera sa mga bagay na hindi para sa inyo. Mind your business, please. Always mind your business.”
