Sandro Marcos Says PBBM’s SONA 2023 Speech Had “A Lot” Of Revisions

Ilocos Norte Representative Sandro Marcos: “He (PBBM) wanted to shorten it because he said mawawala ‘yung attention span ng tao kapag masyado mahaba”

SANDRO MARCOS – The Ilocos Norte representative said that the speech of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. for his second SONA (State of the Nation Address) had “a lot” of revisions.

The congressman said in an interview with reporters on Monday that he was with his father on Sunday, the “only time he rehearsed”. According to him, the initial drafted speech for SONA 2023 which the President wrote was supposedly too long.

Sandro was asked how many timed that the President’s speech was revised. The congressman said, “A lot”.

The Ilocos Norte representative shared that his father wanted to shorten his speech because he said people’s attention span will be lost if his speech is too long.

Sinimulan namin mahaba, it was much much longer than an hour 20, an hour 30 but he was able to get it done naman. To begin with, medyo mahaba but he was able to shave it down a little bit,” Sandro said. “I was with him yesterday… It was a good speech.

Sandro also said that he’s hoping his father’s second State of the Nation Address would go smoothly, and he refused to answer questions about the highlights of the President’s SONA 2023 speech.

However, the congressman said that President Bongbong Marcos’ SONA 2023 speech will be about what has been done in the last year, what problems the country continue to face, and what continues to be done.

In a report on ABS-CBN News, Sandro noted that the President’s speech for his second State of the Nation Address may last for 1 hour and 25 minutes. He also said that it’s unclear so far if former First Lady Imelda Marcos would attend the SONA this year.

But according to a report on Inquirer, Senator Imee Marcos said in an ambush interview a few minutes before the Senate opened the 2nd regular session of the 19th Congress that former First Lady Imelda Marcos might not attend the SONA this year.

Senator Imee said that her mother wants to attend but the doctors are not allowing her to go there because they said there would be a lot of people. It can be recalled that her mother underwent angioplasty last May 7, 2023.
