DOH reported new COVID-19 cases in the Philippines as of today, July 16, 2020.
The Department of Health (DOH) on Thursday reported new cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the Philippines as of today, July 16, 2020.
According to DOH’s COVID-19 Case Bulletin #124 dated July 16, 2020, the Department of Health reported 2,498 new coronavirus cases wherein 1,246 were classified as “fresh” cases and the remaining 1,252 were identified as “late” cases. This brought the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease to 61,266.
According to the Department of Health, the fresh cases recorded on Thursday were based on its test results released to patients within the last three days, while the late cases recorded were based on the test results released to patients four days ago or more.

Aside from the number of confirmed cases, the Department of Health also reported 467 new recoveries and 29 additional fatalities. This brought the total number of recoveries to 21,440 and total coronavirus deaths to 1,643.
Moreover, the Department of Health reported 38,183 total active cases as stated in its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #124 dated July 16, 2020.
The Department of Health identified the top five areas with the highest number of coronavirus cases as of July 16 only: Metro Manila with 1,886 new cases, Cebu with 198 new cases, Cavite with 57 new cases, and Davao del Sur and Laguna with 44 new cases.
