Pregnant Woman’s Sonogram Mistaken for Super Typhoon

Sonogram mistaken for super typhoon

NORTH CALOOCAN – A pregnant woman has gained widespread attention on social media after she shared a humorous conversation with her dad, who mistook her sonogram for a satellite image of a super typhoon.

Camille Pearl Billones-Apawan, a social media user and first-time mom, eagerly shared the result of her ultrasound with her loved ones on May 28. She sent a snapshot of the sonogram to her father, Ronnie, who is currently in Aklan.

To Apawan’s surprise, her father interpreted the image in an unexpected way, mistaking it for a satellite image of powerful Super Typhoon Mawar, locally named “Betty”. In a jesting manner, her father extended his congratulations and jokingly mentioned that his other grandchild, Aki, now had a worthy competitor. She couldn’t help but laugh at her dad’s response.

Apawan’s post quickly gained popularity online, accumulating over 98,000 reactions and more than 32,000 shares at the time of writing. Other social media users joined in with their witty remarks after the post went viral.

Amidst the humorous exchanges, some comments playfully suggested that Apawan should have announced the baby’s arrival alongside the typhoon news. Others jokingly mentioned that her father could have suggested naming the baby “Betty” if it were a girl or “Mawar” if it were a boy.

Meanwhile, PAGASA announced via its latest bulletin issued at 11 AM today, May 29, 2023, that Typhoon Betty slightly decelerates while moving northwestward over the waters east of Cagayan.

It is traversing Northwestward at 15 km/h and has maximum sustained winds of 155 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 190 km/h, and a central pressure of 950 hPa. The center of the eye of Typhoon Karding was located 470 km East of Aparri, Cagayan, or 475 km East of Calayan, Cagayan (19.1°N, 126.0°E)
