Heartbreaking story of a student whose mom passed away, three months after giving birth to twins
LANAO DEL NORTE – Melanie Figueroa, a teacher from Hinaplanon National High School in Iligan City, shared a heartwarming story that has deeply touched netizens. The story centers around her student, “Mike,” who tragically lost his mother, three months after giving birth to twins.
According to Ma’am Melanie, Mike had been saving his allowance to buy laundry detergent for his only school uniform. When teacher Melanie spoke to him, he expressed the need for black slacks as a replacement for his worn-out pair. Mike’s father’s occupation involved making local fermented products, such as “tuba” and “suka.” Additionally, they are faced with the challenge of providing for the twins.
The death of their mother resulted in Mike and his family being left with the hardship to meet their daily needs, particularly the milk and diapers for the twins. Driven by empathy, Ma’am Melanie shared Mike’s story on her Facebook account, hoping to garner support. The response was overwhelming, with donations pouring in within minutes. Ma’am Melanie used the funds to purchase groceries, prioritizing the needs of the twins, such as milk and diapers.
While grateful for the help as per Balita, Ma’am Melanie acknowledged that the supplies might not be sufficient as time passes. She personally visited Mike’s home to deliver the items and express gratitude to her friends and former students who contributed financially. Those interested in extending assistance to Mike and his family are encouraged to contact Ma’am Melanie through her social media account.
