Pia Magalona Stands w/ ABS-CBN On Franchise Issues Against the Network
PIA MAGALONA – The wife of the late rapper Francis Magalona expressed her support to ABS-CBN network amid the franchise issues.
The franchise of the ABS-CBN network has yet to be renewed or a new franchise was not granted yet. Currently, hearings tackling the issues against the network are ongoing.
It was in the first quarter of 2020 when the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) issued a Cease and Desist Order against the network over its franchise.
Upon the release of the NTC order, the network shut down its broadcasting category. It gained different reactions from the people – some support the move of NTC while others were disappointed.
A few days ago, some ABS-CBN programs went back to airing through Sky Cable and Kapamilya TV Plus. However, after a few days, the airing in certain modes were stopped following a new NTC order.

One of the celebrities who reacted to the issues against the ABS-CBN network is Pia Magalona, the wife of the late rapper Francis Magalona. She joined a Black Friday protest held at Commission on Human Rights’ Liwasang Diokno.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Pia Magalona supports ABS-CBN amid the franchise issues. She stressed that they have done a lot of shows under the Kapamilya network before and those are already part of the history.
Pia also stressed that the ideals of her late husband with the family as a basic unit are similar to what the Kapamilya network is doing. The wife of the late rapper is very proud of the network.
“Hindi tayo bumababa sa putik at nambabato ng kung ano-anong salita, wala tayong sinasabing ganoon. Kahit ‘yun man lang we have kept that,” she said based on the report.
Pia questions why ABS-CBN’s franchise has yet to be renewed or a new franchise was yet to be given when the government agencies say the network has no violation. She admitted that she is really having chills due to anger whenever she watches the hearing.
The wife of the late rapper said that she supports not just ABS-CBN but as well as any network or person who is being silenced. She stressed that as a citizen, it is her right to speak and she might regret not speaking her side although she is a shy person.
