ABS-CBN Statement for Public Amid Struggle on Franchise Renewal
ABS-CBN – The Kapamilya network released a statement for the public amid the issues surrounding its franchise.
Recently, one of the topics that took the social media by storm was the Cease-and-Desist Order against the ABS-CBN Network. It was issued by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC).
The NTC order is over the franchise of the Kapamilya network. The renewal of their franchise has yet to be discussed in the Congress.
Immediately, the Kapamilya network decided to go off-air as per the order. It gained different reactions from the people. Undeniably, many were saddened by what happened.
Currently, ABS-CBN is fighting for the renewal of their franchise. The network released a statement for the public amid the issues surrounding their franchise renewal.
Published in ABS-CBN News, the Kapamilya network expressed its trust that the Congress will discuss its pending franchise renewal “at the soonest possible time”.
The network also expressed its gratitude to the Senate and the House of Representatives over their efforts to ensure that they can still operate amid the deliberation of the bills.
Based on the article, the network tagged the move of the NTC as “unfortunate” citing the presence of Senate Resolution No. 40, the Department of Justice’s opinion, and the letter of the House of Representatives’ committee on legislative franchises.
ABS-CBN stated that they found “strength and inspiration” in the kind and supportive gestures of the public. They are grateful over it and vowed to continue fighting to be back on service.
“Thank you for letting us know that we matter to you. In return, we reiterate our commitment to continue to be in your service. Maraming salamat po, mga Kapamilya!”
