JAO MAPA — The actor and visual artist recently took to social media to announce that he will showcase his artwork in a new painting exhibition from September 1-15, 2022

Jao was known as the 4th member of the popular ‘90s group “The Guwapings” along with Jomari Yllana, Mark Anthony Fernandez, and Eric Fructuoso.

He decided to quit showbiz and prioritize his studies back then. Jao graduated from the University of Santo Tomas (UST) with a degree in Fine Arts in 2003 and has become an accomplished painter since then.

The 46-year-old actor made his acting comeback in 2021 in the Vivamax film “Paraluman” with co-star Rhen Escano after a more-than-20-year hiatus from show business.

It was last August 25 when he announced that he will hold his first painting exhibition titled “Jao Mapa: Reborn” from September 1 to 15, 2022 at the drybrush art gallery in SM North EDSA.

PUSH reported that Jao admitted in a previous interview that he had no regrets turning his back on acting in order for him to focus on his art and now that he has a family, continuing to paint and going back to acting have been a good source of livelihood for him.

I’m very thankful for both my talents, my painting and acting. It’s what’s supporting me right now,” he said. “And I would say that not only has showbiz been a very big helping factor for me today but also I’m very thankful that painting also is actually being successful same way that acting is right now.
