DSWD — The Department of Social Welfare and Development warned the public against submitting fake documents to get an emergency assistance.

The DSWD said in a statement on Friday that it is pleased to facilitate requests for assistance through AICS (Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation) program, but the department warned those who falsify documentary requirements that they will face appropriate sanctions.

According to the department, the AICS program provides assistance to individuals and families in crisis who are seeking assistance for funeral, medical, educational, transportation, food, and other support services.

Earlier, DSWD Secretary Erwin Tulfo warned fixers and unscrupulous individuals compromising the integrity of the program that they will face appropriate sanctions.

The DSWD also appealed to the public to report fixers and unscrupulous individuals using fake documentary requirements to avail those assistance.

Meanwhile, the department said that it will speed up the implementation of ESA (Emergency Shelter Assistance) for families affected by the onslaught of typhoon “Odette” that hit Mindanao and Visayas last December 2021, adding that guidelines for the effective implementation of ESA were being prepared.

This, after the DSWD said that the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) granted its request for a special allotment amounting to more than PHP 1.5 billion for the repair of totally-damaged houses in Regions VI, VIII, X, and CARAGA.

The department also said that Region VII and MIMAROPA shall be covered under EHAP (Emergency Housing Assistance Program) of the National Housing Authority (NHA).

Also, the DSWD said that it will provide PHP 10,000 financial assistance in order to augment resources of the affected families to procure construction materials in repairing their damaged houses.
