DOH: “We’ve already gotten the commitment of Covax that they will be replacing all of these expired doses”
DOH — The Department of Health said that global vaccine-sharing platform COVAX Facility will replace expired COVID-19 vaccines, including those procured by local government units (LGUs) and private sector.
In a press briefing on Tuesday, DOH Officer-in-Charge Maria Rosario Vergeire said that the DOH has already gotten the commitment of the COVAX Facility that they will be replacing all of those expired vaccine doses.
Vergeire also said that the delivery of those vaccines will be by schedule, adding that the DOH has scheduled dates of replacement since the vaccine supply in the country is sufficient.
“The schedules, we are negotiating na dadating itong mga replacement doses doon sa time na paubos na po ang current supplies natin sa mga warehouses,” Vergeire said.
It was last July 27 when Go Negosyo founder Joey Concepcion said that more than 4 million COVID-19 vaccine doses worth PHP 5.1 billion, which were purchased by the private sector, have already expired.
On July 28, DOH Officer-in-Charge Undersecretary of Public Health Services Team Beverly Ho in a press briefing that the DOH assures the public that there’s a process of making sure that the entire vaccination program uses COVID-19 vaccines that are safe.

Meanwhile, Vergeire said on Tuesday that the Department of Health is “doing everything” it can in order to administer at least 23 million vaccine doses in the first 100 days of the Marcos administration.
According to her, the Department of Health have no plans to lower their target for the “PinasLakas” vaccination campaign.
