Unidentified Suspect Shoots 2 Linemen in Isabela City, Basilan
ISABELA CITY, BASILAN – Two linemen in Barangay Sumagdang in Isabela City, Basilan were shot while repairing power lines.
On Tuesday (August 9, 2022), an unidentified gunman reportedly shoot two linemen at a close range while trying to repair the power lines in Barangay Sumagdang. The two victims suffered bullet wounds on their heads.
Isabela City police director Lieutenant Colonel Julpikar Sittin reported that the incident happened around 11:00 am. The Basilan Electric Cooperative linemen were repairing some damaged lines in the area when the suspect approached them.
The culprit had an exchange of heated arguments with the victims identified as Alvin Pangilinan and Raymond Singson. Pangilinan has been declared dead on the spot after suffering a headshot while Singson has been rushed to the hospital but eventually passed away.
Sittin reported that Singson was still able to talk before he passed away. The lineman even complained of massive headaches.
“Singson was able to talk, but we were not able to secure information as he was complaining of massive headaches, while he was rushed to the hospital. He died in the hospital,” Sittin said.
However, the police authorities reported that the two did not notify their supervisors after receiving job orders. The two immediately respond to the complaints and failed to inform their head.
“They went to the area without coordinating with their supervisor and barangay officials. It appeared that they accepted job orders without notifying their superiors,” the police reported.
The police officers conclude that the suspect possibly attacked the victims due to the allegedly poor quality services of the power company. The authorities are now searching for the suspect.
