Ogie Diaz Takes Swipe at Marcoleta Over Senate Conflict
OGIE DIAZ – The entertainment reporter and comedian criticized Senator Rodante Marcoleta following the senator’s strong remarks about alleged traitors within the Senate majority bloc. The issue came after rumors of a possible leadership change in the Senate surfaced following tensions and disagreements during the May 13 session.
Marcoleta earlier warned against people he described as betrayers within their group, saying that those who turn against their allies are worse than Judas. His statement quickly gained attention online and sparked reactions from critics and supporters alike.
Ogie Diaz responded by saying the senator’s tone showed fear and concern that political alliances could soon change. According to the comedian, people who are confident in their cause do not need to make emotional statements or accuse others of betrayal.

“‘Pag ganyan ang tono n’yo, takot ‘yan. Nangangambang isang araw, magbabago uli ang ihip ng hangin,” Ogie said. “‘Di n’yo kailangang sabihin ‘yang ‘Hudas you think’ kung para sa bayan talaga ang pinaglalaban n’yo. Para sa bayan nga ba o para sa loyalty n’yo sa iilang tao?”
Diaz also questioned whether the actions and loyalty of some politicians were truly for the benefit of the public or simply for the protection of a few powerful individuals. He suggested that leaders who genuinely serve the people should focus more on public welfare instead of political loyalty and internal conflicts.

This was not the first time Ogie Diaz publicly criticized Marcoleta. In September 2025, the comedian also questioned the senator’s push to make spouses Curlee and Sarah Discaya state witnesses during the controversial flood control investigation. At that time, Diaz pointed out that Marcoleta had previously shown strong anger toward ABS-CBN despite allegations that no public funds were stolen, yet seemed less aggressive toward individuals linked to corruption issues involving flood control projects.
Ogie further echoed questions commonly raised online, with some netizens wondering if political favors or hidden agreements were involved.
