Woman Found Dead After Giving Birth Alone
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – A woman died shortly after giving birth alone inside her rented room at a boarding house in Barangay Bulua.
According to reports, fellow residents discovered the woman in the bathroom, already lifeless and covered in blood. They immediately called for help, and when responders arrived, they also found the newborn baby inside the room, lying in a pool of blood but still alive.
Despite the quick response, the mother did not survive long enough to reach the hospital. The baby, however, survived and is now under the care of the authorities. The initial investigation showed no signs of foul play or any form of violence.
Authorities believe that the woman went through labor on her own and also cut the baby’s umbilical cord by herself. This may have caused severe bleeding, which eventually led to her death. It was reported that she went to the bathroom during the incident, where she later passed away.
“So siya ra mismo ang nag-labor sa iyang kaugalingon ug siya ra mismo ang nagputol sa kaning (umbilical) cord mao ng ga-bleeding siya ug niadto siya sa cr ug didto na siya nakabsan sa kinabuhi,” Capt. Emilita Simon, spokesperson of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office said.
Further findings revealed that the woman previously had a live-in partner, but they had already separated after the man learned that he was not the father of the child. Authorities are now working to locate and contact the woman’s relatives, especially since it was reported that her parents have already passed away. Their priority is to ensure the safety and proper care of the newborn, who survived despite the heartbreaking circumstances surrounding the mother’s death.
“Naningkamot pud kita nga ma-contact ang iyang mga relative niini kay gi-deny man pud siya sa iyahang previous live-in partner kay nagbuwag na sila ug hinungdan sa ilang pagbuwag ang kaning pagmabdos niya sa lahi nga amahan,” Simon said.
