The Truth Behind Heart Evangelista and John Prats’ First Love Story
HEART EVANGELISTA – The actress and fashion icon shared that John Prats was her first love, reflecting on their past during an appearance on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda on April 9.
Looking back, she admitted that she once gave him the title of her first love but later questioned it because of the emotional pain she experienced during their relationship. She described their dynamic as intense and sometimes harsh, explaining that they were often tough on each other while growing up together.
“Looking back and when I saw him again, I realized that I think I dethroned him by giving him the title of first love kasi pinaiyak niya ‘ko, a,” Heart said. She added: “Brutal kami sa isa’t isa, so inisip ko, hindi naman ‘yon pagmamahal kasi parang brutal kami na ano…kasi we grew up together, six years of my life. From 13 to 20, 19 kami ‘yong loveteam, e.”
Heart shared that they spent a significant part of their youth side by side, from her early teenage years until she was around 19 or 20 years old, when they were also known as a popular on-screen love team. Because of this, she found it difficult to separate real emotions from what was expected of them as actors. Their relationship felt confusing at times, as it was unclear whether what they had was genuine love or something influenced by their work in the entertainment industry.
The two recently had a chance to see each other again, which brought back memories of their shared past. They previously worked together in early 2000s projects such as G-mik, Berks, Trip, and the film My First Romance.
Today, both have moved on and built their own lives. John is married to Isabel Oli, and they have three children, while Heart is married to Chiz Escudero.
