Motorcycle-Car Collision in Calamba Claims Life of Teacher
A tragic accident in Calamba City, Laguna, claimed the life of a young teacher and left her fiancé injured early Saturday morning.
Crislyn Paro, 27, who was riding as a passenger on a motorcycle driven by her fiancé, Miguel August Ocampo, 26, was pronounced dead after their motorcycle collided with a car in Barangay 6. Ocampo also sustained injuries in the crash.
According to police, the accident occurred around 4:30 a.m. when the motorcycle was traveling along JP Rizal Street toward Crossing, Barangay Uno. Their motorcycle collided with a white Toyota Wigo driven by 32-year-old Jebson Calderon, who reportedly suddenly crossed the intersection of a one-way street. The impact threw both Paro and Ocampo onto the road. Although they were wearing helmets, the force of the collision caused severe injuries.

Emergency responders rushed the couple to Dr. JP Rizal Memorial Hospital. Ocampo was later transferred to AMSI Doctors Hospital, while Paro was taken to Pamana Hospital, where she was declared dead at 6:45 a.m. from a traumatic brain injury.

Paro’s family shared that she and Ocampo were set to marry on April 21. The couple had already arranged their wedding, including the venue and other preparations, making the tragedy even more heartbreaking.
The driver of the Toyota Wigo is now in police custody and will undergo an alcohol test. Authorities are preparing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, physical injuries, and damage to property against him.

The administration and colleagues of Liceo de Calamba, where Paro taught Grade 5, expressed their condolences, as did her friends and acquaintances.
