Robin Padilla Says Senate Has Better Artists

Robin Padilla: “Mas maraming magaling na artista sa Senado”

ROBIN PADILLA – The senator shared that he doesn’t miss his life in showbiz, saying there are even better “artists” in the Senate today.

During an interview on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, where he appeared with his wife Mariel Padilla, the actor-turned-lawmaker explained that being surrounded by fellow senators who he described as talented and expressive made him realize he no longer longs for acting. “Mas maraming magaling na artista sa Senado. Kaya hindi ko namiss,” he said.

Padilla clarified, however, that he has not completely left the entertainment industry. He mentioned that he recently finished filming Bad Boy 3, a project that took eleven years to complete, and that it is set for release this coming December. He added that acting remains close to his heart even while serving in public office.

Padilla has maintained his visibility both in politics and entertainment. He previously appeared briefly in the 2022 film Maid in Malacañang, and continues to be one of several showbiz personalities now in the Senate, joining other actor-politicians such as Jinggoy Estrada, Lito Lapid, and Tito Sotto III.

Meanwhile, his wife Mariel Rodriguez Padilla said she has no plans to return full-time to showbiz, emphasizing that her focus right now is raising their two daughters. She said that both of their children need her full attention at this stage of their lives.

The couple, who are celebrating their 15th year together, first met in 2010 and tied the knot just three months later in India. They also had a second wedding ceremony in Baguio City in September of the same year.

Despite their busy lives, both Robin and Mariel expressed that they are grateful for where they are now — him serving the public, and her taking care of their growing family — showing how their priorities have evolved beyond the limelight.
