Robin Padilla: “Kahit sunugin mo ‘ko dito, mangangamoy Rodrigo Roa Duterte ako”

Robin Padilla Opposes Impeachment Complaint Against VP Sara

ROBIN PADILLA – The senator has made it clear that he is firmly against the impeachment complaint filed against Vice President Sara Duterte. In a recent interview, the actor turned politician revealed that supporters of former President Rodrigo Duterte in the Senate are preparing separate resolutions to oppose the complaint.

He explained that while they all support VP Sara, each of them is working independently on their respective resolutions. “Hindi kami nag-uusap-usap. May kaniya-kaniya kaming isip, may kaniya-kaniya kaming gawa, may kaniya-kaniya kaming staff,” he said. Showing his loyalty to the Duterte family, Padilla added, “Kami, Duterte kami. ‘Di ba malinaw naman siguro ‘yun? Kahit sunugin mo ‘ko dito, mangangamoy Rodrigo Roa Duterte ako.”

Senator Robin Padilla also clarified that his version of the resolution is entirely his own and not connected to any other senator’s draft.

The issue gained public attention when Senator Imee Marcos revealed that several resolutions were already circulating in the Senate, all aiming to stop the impeachment. Senator Bato dela Rosa later confirmed that one of the drafts originated from his office and reflected his personal reasons for opposing the complaint.

Bato dela Rosa also shared that many ordinary Filipinos disagree with the move to impeach VP Sara. He said that during the 2025 midterm election campaign, which he won, he spoke with people from various parts of the Visayas and Mindanao who expressed their opposition. According to him, many said, “Iboboto kita kung hindi ka magboto sa impeachment.”

Meanwhile, a vice president in the Philippines can be impeached for serious offenses such as violating the Constitution, committing treason, bribery, corruption, major crimes, or betraying public trust. These grounds are stated in the 1987 Constitution and are intended to hold top officials accountable for misconduct while in office.
