Bride Rides Hearse to Say “I Do”
BRAZIL – Daniela Signor, a 33-year-old from Pinhalzinho, São Paulo, made a bold and unforgettable entrance at her wedding—arriving in a funeral hearse.
Her now-husband, 31-year-old Apollo Scariot, works as a funeral director. The two first saw each other in April 2023 at the wake of one of Daniela’s relatives. Although they were strangers, Daniela felt an instant connection. For her, it was love at first sight.
Apollo, however, was deeply focused on his work and didn’t notice her. Still, Daniela didn’t give up. Every time someone in their community passed away and Apollo’s funeral home handled the service, she would show up—not just to offer condolences, but also in hopes of catching his attention. “I don’t even like funerals,” she admitted in an interview with The Jam on May 30, 2025. “I used to think, ‘I’ll give the family a hug just so I can see him,’ you know?”

It took nearly two years and several funeral visits before Apollo finally noticed her. When they eventually started talking, Daniela confessed her long-time crush. Apollo was surprised, saying, “Wait, how did I never notice you before?” Thankfully, the feeling became mutual, and they soon began dating.
On May 17, 2025, Daniela and Apollo got married—and their unique story became a special part of the celebration. Daniela arrived at the wedding venue in a hearse. Guests were shocked at first, but during their vows, the couple explained the meaning behind it. “We read out our story. Then people understood why I arrived in the hearse,” Daniela said.

Apollo added, “About the reaction and the buzz around our story, we never expected it. We decided to arrive in the hearse from my company because it’s part of our story, how we met.” To complete the theme, the newlyweds even left for their honeymoon in the same hearse, which displayed a sign that read: “Till death do us part.”
