Ruffa Gutierrez Opens Up About the Sacrifices She Makes for Her Daughters’ Future
RUFFA GUTIERREZ – The actress and beauty queen opened up about her current priorities and how most of her earnings are dedicated to her children’s education.
In a recent interview, Ruffa, now 50, shared how she completed her college degree at the Philippine Women’s University during the COVID-19 pandemic. She is now working toward finishing her master’s degree in Communication Arts at the same university, although she admitted it’s more challenging this time due to her busy work schedule and other commitments.
Despite the difficulties, Ruffa remains determined. She’s aiming to finish her thesis either by the end of this year or early next year. She’s particularly excited because her eldest daughter, Lorin, will also be graduating with a degree in Advertising from Pepperdine University in California in December 2025. Meanwhile, her youngest daughter, Venice, has just started her freshman year of college in the U.S.

Ruffa admitted that supporting two children studying abroad is financially demanding. She jokingly compared herself to an OFW—except that instead of receiving money, she’s the one constantly sending it abroad. She expressed her gratitude to the brands she works with, saying that their trust and support have helped her provide a good education for her daughters.
She was recently introduced as the official global brand ambassador for Kabayan Remit, a money transfer platform for OFWs in the UK, U.S., and Canada. Coming from a well-known showbiz family—she’s the only daughter of Eddie Gutierrez and Annabelle Rama—Ruffa reflected on how her upbringing influenced her own parenting style. Unlike her mother, who was known to be strict and overprotective, Ruffa shared that she chooses a more balanced approach. While she plays both the “good cop and bad cop,” she allows her children space to grow, trusting they will make wise decisions.

Ruffa also admitted she’s more frugal now than when she was younger. In the past, she used to splurge on shopping, but today, she carefully manages every peso with her daughters’ future in mind.
