Actor Ian De Leon disclosed the cause of death of Nora Aunor

IAN DE LEON – The biological son of Nora Aunor and Christopher de Leon recently disclosed the cause of death of his mother.

In an interview with Vicky Morales and Mariz Umali on GMA News “24 Oras” on Friday, April 18, 2025, Ian disclosed that his mother passed away due to acute respiratory failure. He also said that they do not have the details yet for his mother’s state necrological services on Tuesday, April 22, 2025.

Ian delivered their family’s official statement regarding Nora Aunor’s passing in an press conference on Thursday, April 17, 2025. In a statement, he said that his mother “passed away peacefully” on the night of April 16, 2025 and she was surrounded by people who love her the most.

The actor also acknowledged his mother’s insurmountable contribution to the entertainment industry in the Philippines. But when he was asked if Nora passed away during her latest medical surgery, he clarified that his mother did not die during her operation.

Nora Aunor’s wake is being held at the Heritage Park in Taguig. A public viewing will take place on April 19 and 20, 2025 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, while her interment is scheduled on Tuesday, April 22, 2025.

According to the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), Nora Aunor will be honored with state necrological services and funeral following her death on Wednesday.

The veteran actress, who passed away on Wednesday at the age of 71, was known for her iconic roles in the films “Himala”. “Minsa’y Isang Gamu-gamo”, and “Bona”. Her last movies include “Pieta” where she starred with actor Alfred Vargas, and “Mananambal” where she starred with actress Bianca Umali.
