Government Workers Risk Suspension for Engaging in Political Posts, Says CSC
CSC – The Civil Service Commission has issued a warning to government employees about the potential suspension they may face for engaging in social media activities related to politics, particularly during election periods.
In Memorandum Circular 3-2025, the CSC emphasized that actions such as liking, commenting, sharing, reposting, or following political candidates or party accounts on social media are considered partisan political activities. This applies if these actions are used to show support or opposition for a candidate or party during the campaign period for the 2025 Midterm Elections.
The CSC reminded government employees to exercise caution when using social media, as involvement in any political activities may lead to disciplinary actions. First-time offenders may face suspension for one to six months, while a second offense could result in dismissal from government service.

This directive is part of the CSC’s efforts to maintain political neutrality among government personnel, ensuring that public servants remain impartial during the election process. The memo aims to uphold the integrity of the civil service and prevent any influence or bias in government functions during this critical time.
Meanwhile, the Civil Service Commission (CSC) is an independent agency in the Philippines that oversees the country’s government workforce. Its primary responsibility is to ensure that government offices operate efficiently and ethically by setting rules for hiring, promoting, and disciplining public employees.

The CSC also handles civil service exams, recruitment, and ensures that government workers follow proper conduct. It investigates complaints and cases against government employees, holding them accountable and ensuring transparency. The commission supports a fair and professional system for hiring government workers based on their abilities, without favoritism. By enforcing these rules, the CSC helps improve the functioning of government and builds public trust in its services.
