Camille Villar Defends Herself Against Vote-Buying Claims
CAMILLE VILLAR – The Las Piñas Representative and Deputy Speaker has officially responded to the vote-buying allegations raised against her by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC). Villar, who is also running for senator in the upcoming elections, addressed the issue following reports that COMELEC would issue a show cause order in connection with the accusations.
In a message sent to the media, Villar confirmed that she is aware of the possible issuance of a show cause order. The concern stems from an event held in Imus, Cavite. However, Villar clarified that she has not yet received an official copy of the said order. She also noted that the event in question took place on February 9, 2025—before the official campaign period began—which, she emphasized, means it should not be considered an election offense.
Villar firmly denied the accusations, stating in her official statement: “I vehemently deny any allegation or insinuation of vote buying or commission of any election offense for that matter.”

She added that she is confident the COMELEC will recognize her innocence once she is given the opportunity to present her side. Villar emphasized her commitment to transparency and her trust in the integrity of the election process.
In her message, she also expressed gratitude to her supporters for their continued trust and encouragement. She believes that with their help, the country will move toward a “Bagong Boses” and a “Bagong Bukas.”

As of now, COMELEC has not issued any official response to Villar’s statement. The public awaits further clarification as both sides prepare to address the issue in the proper forum.
Meanwhile, Camille Villar is a politician and businesswoman. She is the daughter of former Senate President Manny Villar and Senator Cynthia Villar, and the sister of Senator Mark Villar. She has been serving as the Representative of the Lone District of Las Piñas since 2019 and currently holds the position of Deputy Speaker in the House of Representatives.
