Bato dela Rosa: “Mag-wig ako para hindi nila ako makilala doon”
BATO DELA ROSA – The senator expressed his desire to visit former President Rodrigo Duterte at the International Criminal Court (ICC) detention center in The Hague, Netherlands. He joked that he would wear a wig to avoid being recognized.
During a brief interview at the Senate on April 3, Dela Rosa said he plans to apply for a Schengen visa to travel to The Hague before or after the upcoming elections. “Mag-try ako mag-apply ng Schengen visa. Kung isyuhan ako, then maybe, well, kung may pagkakataon, before the elections sana makabisita ako sa kanya…baka before or after elections,” he said.
When asked if he was concerned about being arrested, he confidently responded, “Sige lang kung i-detain nila ako don.” He then joked, “Pag magpunta ako doon sa The Hague, mag-wig ako para hindi nila ako makilala doon.”

Dela Rosa continued his playful remarks, saying he owns different wigs, including one with an afro style, which he claimed would make him even harder to identify. As the former chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), Dela Rosa played a key role in implementing Duterte’s war on drugs, which resulted in numerous deaths.
Recently, Dela Rosa also stated that he would not surrender to the ICC if a warrant were issued against him, insisting that he only recognizes the authority of Philippine courts.

Meanwhile, Duterte remains in ICC custody after his arrest on March 11. He is facing serious accusations of crimes against humanity due to his violent anti-drug campaign, which led to thousands of deaths. The ICC is currently holding hearings to determine whether he should be held accountable for these alleged human rights violations. His arrest has sparked mixed reactions both in the Philippines and internationally. Supporters argue that his actions were necessary in the fight against illegal drugs, while critics claim that his campaign resulted in unjust killings. The outcome of the ICC hearings will determine whether he will face legal consequences for his actions.
