Frederick Cale Sues Lindsay Custodio for Cyber Libel
LINDSAY CUSTODIO – The actress and former singer is facing a cyber libel case filed by her estranged husband, Frederick Cale, at the Mandaue City Prosecutor’s Office in Cebu. To respond to the charges, Lindsay traveled from Muntinlupa City, Metro Manila, where she currently resides, to attend the preliminary investigation held on March 4, 2025.
In his complaint-affidavit, Frederick claimed that Lindsay made defamatory statements during an exclusive interview with PEP, published on May 8, 2024. According to him, Lindsay falsely accused him of denying her financial support and withdrawing her hard-earned money on their wedding day, May 1, 2022. He insisted that these claims were false, scandalous, and intended to damage his reputation.

After attending the preliminary investigation, Lindsay spoke to PEP, expressing disappointment over the case. She admitted being shocked that Frederick would take such action, especially since she had to travel from Manila to Cebu to address it. Despite this, she remained firm, stating, “Nakakalungkot na ganyan po ang ginawa niya. I am very disappointed, siyempre, pero okay lang po because what I have is the truth naman, so basta dire-diretso lang.”

This is not the first legal dispute between them. In June 2024, Lindsay filed a case against Frederick for violating the Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act (RA 9262) in Muntinlupa City, but it was dismissed due to jurisdiction issues. Later, in November 2024, Frederick filed a perjury case against Lindsay, which was also dismissed. Addressing these cases, Lindsay explained, “He filed perjury against me because of the VAWC case. Immediately it was dismissed and now, here, we have the cyber libel.”
Despite expectations that Frederick would attend the preliminary investigation, he was not present. His lawyer, Atty. Lacambra, confirmed that he is currently in Canada. Lindsay declined to comment further on her estranged husband.
