Sen. Bato dela Rosa Speaks on Arrest of Former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte
BATO DELA ROSA – The Senator admitted that he felt betrayed by President Bongbong Marcos over the arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
The arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte created another division among the Filipinos. The Duterte supporters are calling for the government to bring him back to the Philippines while the human rights advocates and the anti-Dutertes have positive remarks over the turn of events.

The International Criminal Court or ICC issued a warrant of arrest against the former President. It has been looking into the controversies surrounding the war on drugs of the previous administration. The ICC welcomed the arrest and transfer of former Pres. Duterte to The Hague.

Former Pres. Duterte was flown to Dubai on the same day that he was arrested. He had a lay over in Dubai before heading to The Hague. There are calls for the Marcos administration to make a move to bring the former President back to the Philippines.
After the plane carrying former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte to Dubai has flown, Pres. Bongbong Marcos spoke on the side of the government. He stressed that the government cooperated with the Interpol and not because the arrest warrant is from the ICC. He also stressed that the issue has started even before he became president of the country amid claims that it is allegedly a political move.

Malacañang also defended the move of the government saying that it is the prerogative of the government and such move will allegedly ensure justice for either the accused or the victims. As for Sen. Bato dela Rosa, it is a “betrayal to the max” by Pres. Bongbong Marcos.

Dela Rosa was the PNP chief during the war on drugs of the Duterte administration. The PNP was at the front line of carrying out the drug war of the previous admin.
According to Sen. Bato dela Rosa, he felt a mixture of anger and sadness. According to him, he expected Pres. Bongbong Marcos to stick to his words and not to betray his countrymen and the country.
“It’s tearing me apart na makakita ng gano’ng klaseng scenario. Malungkot po tayo. We feel betrayal to the max na nangyayari sa atin,” the Senator said.
Based on a post, Sen. Dela Rosa further expressed that Pres. Marcos has allegedly easily surrendered the sovereignty of the country to the foreign entities with the arrest and transfer of former Pres. Duterte.
“I expect our sitting president to be a man of his words at hindi po betrayal ang ipapakita niya sa kanyang mga kababayan at sa kanyang bansa. Gano’n na lang niya i-surrender ‘yung soberanya ng ating bansa doon sa foreign entities na ‘yan,” Dela Rosa said.
Previously, Malacañang said that Duterte’s arrest is an act of surrendering a man accused of crimes. Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro stressed that it is allegedly a different case.
