Chinese Man Wanted for Kicking Cat to Death in Makati
ANIMAL CRUELTY – A ₱200,000 reward has been offered for any information leading to the whereabouts of a Chinese national accused of kicking a cat to death at Ayala Triangle Gardens in Makati.
According to Compassion and Responsibility for Animals (CARA), the suspect, identified as Jiang Shan, allegedly kicked the cat multiple times on January 4, 2025, at around 9:33 AM, causing severe injuries that led to its death.
In response, Ayala Triangle Gardens Area Manager Sherwin Saavedra sent a letter to Chinese Embassy Ambassador Huang Ilian on January 8, emphasizing that the act violated the Animal Welfare Act of 1998.

Jiang was initially taken into custody by the Barangay Poblacion Police Substation but was released due to the lack of a formal complainant. When authorities asked for his address, Jiang refused to provide his actual residence and instead gave the Chinese Embassy’s address, prompting an ongoing search for him.
CARA has since stepped forward as the complainant to pursue legal action. According to Abante, anyone with information about the suspect’s whereabouts is encouraged to contact Ms. Irene Tan.
Speaking of animal cruelty, a dog was shot five times with an Indian arrow in Murcia, Negros Occidental, prompting a ₱65,000 reward for information leading to the suspect. The case was first reported by BACH Project PH Inc., a nonprofit animal welfare group based in Bacolod City. On February 24, 2025, they called for public assistance in seeking justice for TikTok, the injured dog who suffered arrow wounds to the face and legs.

Veterinarians immediately provided emergency treatment, including a blood transfusion and the removal of the arrows. Fortunately, TikTok survived the attack.
To speed up the investigation, Senator JV Ejercito contributed ₱15,000 to the reward fund. Murcia Mayor Gerry Rojas also condemned the brutal act, calling it cowardly and inhumane. He pledged ₱10,000 for any leads on the suspect and praised BACH Project PH for their efforts in saving TikTok.
